This abutment is what remains of an old single-arch rock bridge that was built in 1894 to connect Austin to Bee Caves to Fredericksburg. It spanned 108 ft over Barton Creek and was 28 ft high, and was destroyed only six years later in the flood of 1900.
It is located just above Barton Springs pool, yet few know of its history or even that it exists.
